WE BUILD ATHLETES… Move Well + Get Stronger + Get Faster

There has never been a more critical time to teach our kids the importance of physical activity and what it means to live a healthy lifestyle! We also aim to produce confidence, perseverance, discipline and leadership skills in our young athletes. We are passionate and committed to this endeavor.

CrossFit Kids is a method for teaching CrossFit to children ages 3-18. We use a combination of skill practice, workouts, and games to build strength and conditioning in kids. Classes include elements of gymnastics, cardio, body weight movements, weight lifting, and more, all geared for kids of all ages and abilities.

Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, at Blackbird CrossFit Kids we emphasize good movement. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.

CrossFit Kids is meant to be fun for all ages. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. Further, the needs of second graders and high-school varsity wrestlers differ by degree and not kind; the program is scalable for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids. CrossFit Kids is a good fit for the inactive child and as off-season training for the athletic child, alike.

At Blackbird CrossFit we have 4 trainers who are CrossFit Kids certified and love sharing their knowledge and passion for fitness with young athletes!

CROSSFIT KIDS POLICIES & PROCEDURES

We will teach your children new skills and movements and have a lot of fun in the process, but your child’s safety is paramount to us. We have developed some policies and procedures for the safety of your child and the effectiveness of their CrossFit class experience.

YOUR CHILD NEEDS THE FOLLOWING FOR EACH CLASS:

  • Water Bottle
  • Appropriate clothing for running, jumping, rolling, pulling, swinging, climbing, crawling, throwing, and being upside down. Long hair needs to be tied back.
  • A positive attitude

MAKE UP POLICY:

If your child misses a class, we make every effort to allow them to make it up during another scheduled class that same session. Make-ups need to be done within the current session, but do not have to be within the same week. Please alert the coaches before class if possible to let them know that your child will not be attending class. It is the parent’s responsibility to schedule the make up.

GENERAL:

  • We encourage parents to remain onsite during the 45 minute CF Kids Jr. Varsity sessions.
  • CF Kids Varsity athletes can be dropped off; however, we REQUIRE that you to walk your child(ren) inside the building for the start of the class and come inside the building to pick them up. Unless pre-arranged with the head coach, the children are only allowed to go home with the person who drops them off.
  • BE ON TIME! CrossFit Kids classes are only 30-55 minutes, so every minute counts. We will begin class promptly on the hour.
  • A waiver, signed by a parent or legal guardian, is required for each child before he or she is allowed to participate in a class.
  • Payment is for the CrossFit Kids Session and due before the start of each session.
  • Please make the head coach aware of any special needs for your child that may facilitate his or her individual safety, learning, and growth (i.e., medications, illness, physical/mental limitations, injury, sports, etc.).
  • Please bring any medications your child may need (ex. asthma inhaler) with a doctor’s note or prescription, and parent note allowing Matt or Rebekah Titus to administer meds if needed or in case of emergency.

We look forward to training your children and being a part of promoting a lifelong love of good health and fitness. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to Matt or Rebekah Titus: info@blackbirdcrossfit.com or 410.875.7186.
