You will be hard-pressed to find anyone more determined than Cathy. She has that “Goonies Never Say Die” mindset each and every workout. She doesn’t cut corners or take the easy way out. Cathy thrives on a challenge. She truly gives 110%.
Cathy is also President and COO of the Blackbird Welcoming Committee. She is our #1 asset when it comes to new members! She goes out of her way to introduce herself to everyone and put them at ease. She is also everyone’s loudest cheerleader. Standing right there pushing you through those last tough reps or heading back out the door with a member to help them through their last run of a workout, Cathy is the ultimate CrossFit Community Member.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.
My name is Cathy Blassino, I am married with three kids. When my kids were young I decided to go into real estate so I could be an active part of their lives while still having a career.
WHAT MADE YOU START CROSSFIT? WHAT HAS KEPT YOU DOING IT? HAS YOUR MOTIVATION CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?
In 2013 the gym I attended began to offer CrossFit classes, with very little knowledge of what it entailed I decided to pop in to one of the classes to check it out and I have loved it ever since.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED SINCE JOINING BLACKBIRD CROSSFIT IN 2014?
CrossFit is a personal journey for each of us. There is always something new to learn, improvements to be made and goals to set.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT CROSSFIT?
The support and encouragement in the CrossFit community is one of the things I love most.
Some of my favorite things about Blackbird are an amazing workout program with the best coaches around, awesome people with a community feel, and a great sensible nutrition program that has changed my life.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST CROSSFIT MOMENT?
Some of my proudest moments are pushing myself to finish a WOD when my mind is telling me I can’t finish this one.
WHAT CROSSFIT GOALS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING TOWARDS?
My goals for 2021 are to complete Double Unders in a workout and 3 strict Pull Ups.
FAVORITE LIFT, MOVEMENT, OR WOD? LEAST FAVORITE?
My favorite movements are ones that do not require much coordination so bench press, split jerk and thrusters (yes… thruster) are some of my favorites.
WHEN YOU’RE NOT CROSSFITTING WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO?
When I am not doing CrossFit I am either out selling houses or spending time with family & friends.
